HANDBELL RINGERS 15th Anniversary. A celebration lunch.

It was 15 years and a month from when our handbell group was formed. We thought it worthy of celebrating and organised a bring and share lunch which we enjoyed at the Catholic Church Hall where we rehearse, We also had two tables set out with dozens of photographs taken over the years of the various concerts, charity events, and weddings that we had taken part in, bringing back lots of memories.
– “You couldn’t make it up!”
The handbell group continues to be made up of around 20 members. Over the last few years, we have managed to ‘double up’ many of our names, for example for many years, we have had 2 Margarets, 2 Heathers, 2 Hilarys, 2 Joys and 2 Geoffs. So, it was no surprise when the latest new member in February was called Chris, giving us 2. A month later we were joined by Chris Monro.
Then came Open Day, and two new members wished to join us, a husband and wife, and guess what, they are both called Chris. So, now if anyone says, ‘Chris’, 5 heads turn!
The Handbell Ringing Group meets most weeks at church premises in Cheddar. Occasionally the Group gives a performance at a Cheddar U3A event. Back in 2016 the Cheddar Valley U3A Handbell Ringers celebrated Her Majesty The Queen's 90th birthday by ringing in Cheddar Gorge.
